My Name is Mateusz Sińczuk,
I am 29 years old. Because of cerebral palsy I don’t walk alone
and I use wheel-cheer. Luckily mentally I am healthy, at least
I thing so. I have been treated in Ożarowska Centre since I was
2.
My stay in Petö Institute for Motor Disabled People in
Budapest was a very important period of my live. Petö Institute
is very well-known all over the world out of high level of
treatment they offer to children, teenagers and adult people
with cerebral palsy so with the same type of disability as mine.
When I was 8, for about 1 year I have been rehabilitated in the
Petö Institute using Conductive Education system (Petö method).
My stay there gave me a lot. I have learned Hungarian language
(until now I use it). I’ve began to walk independently with the
crochis, to function in a group of children and what is the most
important I have learned to find solution to different kind of
situations in my life.
I have changed my dysfunctional personality into active one. Now
it helps me very much.
Learning process is an important part of my life. First 2 years
I spent in special school for handicapped children then we
decided to go to normal primary school and next to secondary
school which I have graduated with secondary school-leaving
certificate.
In the age of 20 I have started a study at the Academy of
Special Pedagogic in Warsaw on Social Work specialization. I
have graduated this study getting a master’s degree.
I had my first contact with the Ozarowska Centre as a child. Now
as an adult person I returned there and tuned into the work of
Ożarowska Association. It has been created 5 years ago, by the
staff of the Ożarowska Centre and parents of children with
cerebral palsy which were treated there. I take part in the
meetings organized by the Association for young cerebral palsy
adults. We called it “Fishing-rod” Club – Room, usually we meet
there once a week. I am one of four people who try to administer
website www.nasze-dzieci.net created for parents of CP
children. I am responsible for one section cold Social
Help/Social Work.
Beside that I like to meet new people, to travel, listen to the
music (country, pop, rock, jazz) to learn foreign languages and
to taste good cuisine from different countries.
My biggest dream is to become independent as much as possible,
to work, to have my own flat and to live like other people of my
age. |
